Developing
Leaders Around You by John C Maxwell
(Published
by Nelson Business)
There is nothing
original in this book but, as with other books produced
by Maxwell, it is well-organized and well-written. Also
timely. Maxwell focuses on three key objectives: Developing
leadership within one's self (discussed in greater depth
in his book Developing the Leader Within You), developing
leadership within associates, and thereby maximizing
the potential of all human assets within any organization,
regardless of its size or nature.
Both practical and
inspirational, Developing the Leaders Around You is
crammed with strategies that help you effectively transform
your goals into reality by building leadership in the
people around you. Emphasizing that an organization
can't grow until its members grow, Dr. Maxwell encourages
readers to foster a productive team spirit, make difficult
decisions, handle confrontation, and to nurture, encourage,
and equip people to be leaders. Middle managers will
find this book helpful.
