Broad-based
BEE - the complete guide - by Vuyo Jack

'Black peoples
economic participation is here to stay. The sooner reluctant
players in the private sector embrace the substance
of BEE, the sooner we will see real progress made in
the growth of our country,' says Cyril Ramaphosa in
the forward of this important book. BEE is a government
project to attempt to reform South Africa's capital,
in order to de-racialise ownership in the economy. Vuyo
has done an excellent job in unraveling and demystifying
this transformation process in a simple, easy to read
book.
I highly recommend this book for everyone in South Africa
because it explains in a nutshell government vision
and policy. He makes a great point when he says that
'BEE is not equal to white impoverishment' and uses
the analogy of an athlete who wants to develop her left
leg without restricting the development of her right
leg. All very positive and inspirational! I wondered
why every time the word 'Black' is used it is written
with a capital 'B' whereas 'white' is written with a
small letter. Does this mean that Black people are defined
solely by their blackness (Black = noun) whereas being
white (white = adjective) is only one aspect of their
being?
